"Damn Midwestern Men!"
There are simply not enough stars for this one!
This is my first book by Tal Bauer, but it certainly won't be my last! I picked it up after it was recommended to me so many times, by so many people. I'm sometimes a bit cautious with books that are so massively hyped, but I gave it a chance anyway.
BEST THING I EVER DID!
The characters are so beautifully drawn, Noah and Cole's chemistry is instant and electric.
"I wish you weren't afraid of me," Cole breathed. "I'm not afraid of you." "You're afraid of something. Something to do with me." "I'm afraid of what you mean."
My heart broke for Noah, his statement of 'I just want to be me' brought a tear to my eye. He makes himself so emotionally (and you could also say physically) vulnerable in Vegas, he was really lucky he found Cole.
"The first thing I noticed about you was your eyes," he blurted out. "Even across the bar, you looked... kind."
I'm the first to admit that I'm a bit slow on the uptake on guessing 'whodunit'; but this one came out of left field for me, I just didn't see it until it was too late. I enjoyed the police procedural part of this story, and there was quite a bit of action that kept the pace of the book high.
" I was being selfish that night. I wanted, for once, for one night, to know what it felt like to be... me."
If you enjoy intensely passionate love stories, an excellently suspenseful serial killer theme, police procedural type stories, and one of the best HEAs I've read in a long time, don't go past this one!!
"I was happy with you. For one night, I was happy with you."
